Pavlou Pips Rivals to Claim Tamworth Crown

By Josh Hanson

Kelsey Pavlou has continued his red-hot run through the back end of the PBR Australia season, lighting up the Australian Equestrian and Livestock Events Centre to win the 2026 Monster Energy Tamworth Iron Cowboy Invitational on Saturday night.

The 24-year-old added a third event victory from the last four tour stops with an aggregate score of 170.45 points and added $12,800 in prizemoney to his yearly total.

Pavlou was one of four riders to finish the event 2-for-2 in one of the most competitive tour events we have seen, with the top four on the leaderboard separated by just 1 point.

The Toora cowboy started his night perfectly, dominating Candy Paint (Lazy G Bucking Bulls/Pakallus/Edgar) to record his fourth round-winning ride of the season. The bull turned back to his right riding hand for 85.60 points.

With the first pick in the Championship Round Draft, Pavlou set up a rematch with Splintas Man Glitter (Morgys Cattle Company), who he had converted into 89 points earlier this season at Marrabel.

Several riders remained perfect when Pavlou’s turn arrived, and he needed at least 84.80 to regain the lead.

In a battle of the Victorians, Man Glitter turned back to the right again, and Pavlou remained untroubled for 8 seconds. But the question was whether the score would be enough. The judges said yes, with the ride scoring 84.85 points.

Pavlou’s margin of victory was just 0.1 points.

Zane Hall and Hayes Weight tied for second with aggregate scores of 170.35 points.

Hall’s 2-for-2 night began with a fourth-place finish in Round 1. He rode Honey Hole (Lazy G Bucking Bulls) for 84.30 points away from his left riding hand.

The Athol bull rider then added a further 85.85 points aboard Extra Fly (Morgys Cattle Company), who turned back to the right and reversed to the left at the whistle.

Weight covered Cool Hand (Australia Western Sports) in Round 1 with a textbook ride into his right hand for 84.75 points and a third-place finish in the long round.

The Utah cowboy then converted Double Addiction (K3F – Farley Bucking Bulls) into 85.60 points to remain perfect, adding another third-place round finish after the bull spun into his hand.

Ky Borghero finished fourth with 169.45 points. His night began with an 83.10-point ride aboard Night Train (Diamond S Bucking Bulls), who faked left and then turned back to the right.

The Proserpine young gun then conquered the rarely ridden Conquistador (Maynes Bucking Bulls), who also turned away from his hand for the Championship Round winning score of 86.35 points.

Brumby Brandenburg recorded his best result on tour since the corresponding event last season, finishing fifth. The Bloomsbury talent posted 85.25 points in his Round 1 matchup with Mood Swing (Dunne Bulls), who spun into his left riding hand.

Calliope’s Ben Bode posted another solid event finish, riding Wicked Addiction (K3F – Farley Bucking Bulls) for 84.30 points as the bull turned left into his hand.

Willow Tree bull rider Clint Glass finished seventh, continuing his consistent run of form with a qualified ride in seven of his last eight tour starts. He combined with Simba (ST Bucking Bulls) for a nice ride into his hand, scoring 84.10 points.

The eighth and final rider to post a qualified ride on the night was Colby Edgar, who snapped his lengthy buck-off streak in front of his home crowd for 83.35 aboard Crooked Intentions (Morgys Cattle Company/Wildcard). The bull faked a turn back into his hand and spun right.
