Team Queensland has run away with Game 3 of the 2026 PBR Origin Series, emphatically defeating Team New South Wales in front of a packed house at the TikTok Entertainment Centre in Sydney on Saturday night.

The Maroons scored a series-high ten qualified rides across the three rounds of competition, with the scoreboard reading 854.15 points to 254.90 as the dust settled.

Seven Queensland riders added scores to their team total in a big night for the visitors, earning their second series sweep since the three-game format started in 2022.

Maroons bull rider Zane Hall was crowned champion of the PBR Origin III – Sydney event for the second year running, riding both of his long-round bulls to finish atop the leaderboard with 171.90 points at the conclusion of Round 2.

For the Blues, it was Toby Collins who shone brightest, with his two scores equalling 170.30 points enough to propel him to the top of the 2026 Cowboy of Origin standings. The win earned him a $30,000 bonus with four scores totalling 341.65 points across the nine rounds of Origin competition.

Both teams missed early chances in Round 1 until Kelsey Pavlou ended the streak of buck offs for the Maroons, scoring 85.70 points on Ariat Last Strike (Dunne Bulls). His score held up for the opening round win, with the bull first turning right, then spinning left.

Toby Collins got the Blues on the board with a brilliant ride away from his hand aboard another bull that we rarely see ridden, Conquistador (Maynes Bucking Bulls) for 85.05 points.

Last season’s Cowboy of Origin Luan Crystian Camara struck in the home team’s next out, taking full advantage of his favourable matchup with Mr Colourful (CF7 Bucking Bulls) for 84.60 points.

Zane Hall answered back for the visitors with a solid ride into his hand for 84.80 points aboard Asmodeus (Swain Cattle Company).

Team Queensland held a slender 0.85-point advantage over New South Wales at the half-time break, 170.50 to 169.65 points.

Round 2 began with a bang for the Queenslanders, with Rylee Ward becoming the third rider to cover 2025 Bucking Bull of the Year Alpha Blokes Warden. The Warden turned back into the young Kiwi’s hand, with Ward remaining in full control for the eight seconds and the judges awarding him a round-winning score of 88.75 points.

The bulls began to dominate again, until Zane Hall – filling in for an injured teammate – made light work of El Chappo (Dittmann Bucking Bulls) in a high-flying trip worth 87.30 points to put the Maroons up by three scores.

2025 PBR Australian National Champion Kurt Shephard then added to the pile on with 84.70 points aboard Highway Man (Swain Cattle Company) to again extend Team Queensland’s lead.

Toby Collins then hit back immediately to give the Blues some hope with a timely 85.25-point ride aboard Checkmate (Morgys Cattle Company) into his hand.

The Maroons went on to dominate the second half of Round 2.

Caiden Sandilands converted on his re-ride opportunity against Jack Black (K3F Bucking Bulls) for 82.60 points, Zane Hall teamed up with Man Glitter for a sensational contest worth 87.10 points, and Ben Bode put the result beyond doubt with 80.30 points aboard Even Up (Morgys Cattle Company) in his team’s final long round trip.

Queensland’s lead entering the bonus round was 8 rides to 3 with just four cowboys from each team left to ride, 681.25 points to 254.90.

The Bonus Round was all Maroons.

First, Kurt Shephard rode Canadian Club (Maynes Bucking Bulls) for the second time in his career. This time, for 85.95 points after the bull took a couple of long jumps out into the arena and turned back into his hand.

Rylee Ward then recorded his second-round win of the night with 86.95 points aboard Roam Aviation Without Warning (Dunne Bulls), riding into his hand. This was also a rematch opportunity, with the bull having bucked off Ward twice previously.

The big mover in the 2026 PBR Australian National Standings this week was Zane Hall. Off the back of his event win and a fourth place from his fill-in ride in Round 2, he moved into third position on the leaderboard and sits 696 points back from the No. 1 spot.

Toby Collins moved up three places into tenth with his 2-for-2 performance in the long rounds and runner-up finish.

Rylee Ward continued his charge up the rankings with a third-place finish as the best rider with one score, jumping up two spots and into ninth, which Kelsey Pavlou vacated after he moved into eighth with his fifth-place finish.

Kurt Shephard extended his lead in the Gold Buckle race with his sixth-place finish, and he now leads the No. 2-ranked Keny Roger de Oliveira by 488.50 points.

The YETI High Marked Bull of the Night went the way of Alpha Bloke Warden from MJ and Keliher Bucking Bulls, whose share of Rylee Ward’s Round 2 winning ride came in at 43.45 points.

Stetson Nirvana (Dittmann Bucking Bulls) posted 42.95 points in his 3.83-second opening-round matchup with Ethan Coster.

Man Glitter (Morgys Cattle Company) matched that mark, tying for second with his bull score component of Zane Hall’s Round 2 matchup also equalling 42.95 points.

The Origin III riding percentage came in almost exactly where we expected it. The 27.08% equalled the conversion rate they recorded at Origin II in Brisbane two months ago, and I think they did quite well considering the stop-start nature of the contest. 

The bulls also did well on a challenging night, with the average bull score settling at 41.87, which is exactly half a point above the season average.
