As discussed in yesterday's Event Preview for PBR Origin II, the bull pen awaiting the cowboys tonight in Brisbane looks much stronger than what they faced in Newcastle last weekend.
There are a lot of fifty-fifty matchups scattered throughout the draw, and not many where the rider would start a short-priced favourite. As a result, tonight will be about capitalising on these opportunities and turning them into points.

Let's break down some of the better opportunities for the cowboys to post a score:
View the full PBR Origin II – Brisbane Daysheet.
Boston Leather (QLD) on 2840 Midnight (MC Bucking Bulls)
Leather performed well last week as his team's lead-off rider. He gets another chance to start well here against Midnight. This bull has been ridden three times in four PBR Australia trips, with scores averaging in the low 80-point range. Midnight usually turns back to the left, which will be away from the Calliope bull rider's hand, but he can reverse the spin late in the ride. Leather has ridden four of his last five bulls on tour and gets a great chance to improve on that record here.
Donnie Rutherfurd (QLD) on 850 Forever Young (MJ and Keliher Bucking Bulls)
This is a rematch from last season's Tamworth event, where the bull won in just over 3 seconds. Forever Young has been ridden only five times in thirty-eight career outs. Three of those scores came in his last nine trips. Recently, his trips have been fairly consistent - bucking hard with lots of vertical movement in front of the chutes while trying to roll the rider off his back. Rutherfurd will know what to expect, so it will be a matter of staying centred and weathering the storm. The Mount Isa cowboy battled injury to record a key ride in the second round at Origin I. A qualified ride here will set him up for a big night, with a good Round 2 matchup waiting.
Lachlan Slade (NSW) on 218 Mr Colourful (CF7 Bucking Bulls)
Slade was one of the cowboys who surprisingly missed out on a score last weekend. While his chances weren’t certainties, he would have been disappointed not to land one. He gets a chance to bounce back against Mr Colourful. This bull has defeated four cowboys in a row to begin his career. Three of those were left-handed riders, who bucked off in an average of 2.71 seconds. The lone righty, Clint Glass, took him past the 5-second mark. Mr Colourful should be out and around to the right a few paces into the arena, which will suit the Tamworth veteran.
Clint Glass (NSW) on 171 Throw It Back (Dunne Bulls)
The Willow Tree bull rider was another Blue who missed out on a score last weekend. He gets a rematch against Throw It Back, who is unridden after nine PBR trips. Their previous matchup in Beaudesert this season went to the bull in 5.95 seconds. On that occasion, the bull bucked hard in the chutes just as Glass called for the gate, putting him behind from the start, and he couldn’t catch up. They will do battle again around to the right, into Glass’s hand. Scores could climb into the high-80’s.
Toby Collins (NSW) on B02 Da Bear (Lazy G Bucking Bulls/Pukallus)
Da Bear is a top draw in this opening round. He has given up 10 qualified rides in 28 career outs, with an average score of 84 points. This bull spins to the right, but left-handed riders like Kurt Shephard and Zane Hall have combined with him for good scores. Collins rode well in Newcastle and picked up the Round 1 win. He also performed strongly at the Sydney Meatstock Touring Pro and the Nowra Invitational earlier last month, so his form is holding. These two matched up at Tamworth in 2024, with the bull winning in 4.90 seconds. The Maldon cowboy will be confident he can get the job done when he climbs into the chute tonight.
Zane Hall (QLD) on 520 Salvation (Ruhland Ranch Bucking Bulls)
Hall is in a rough patch on tour, covering just two of his last ten bulls. We know one score can spark confidence. Salvation looks like a great draw for that, and the Athol talent should be familiar with him. The bull's record is 6-and-1, but he hasn’t faced a top-ranked left-handed rider yet. The only score recorded was by right-handed Lachlan Slade in Toowoomba in March for 85.30 points. Hall should be near that mark, with the bull expected to turn back to the left and into his hand.
Jack Rowlandson (NSW) on 228 Fame & Fortune (CF7 Bucking Bulls)
The Oberon cowboy did his job for the Blues in Newcastle, raising his Origin riding percentage to 40%. He gets a good chance to build on that record early in Round 2 against Fame & Fortune. This bull has been unridden so far in his short career, but he seems as though he will be a great fit for most left-handed riders. He has bucked off four righties and one lefty so far. Lane Hanush Bowen took him to 6.34 seconds at Toowoomba. The bull should turn back to the left, not far from the chutes. Rowlandson will be hoping for a score in the mid-80s.
Macaulie Leather (QLD) on 073 Blinky Bill (ST Bucking Bulls)
We’ve seen this matchup several times on tour, with each athlete earning a win. The bull posted a 5.23-second victory in the 2021 Origin series, while Leather scored 83 points at the Sandstone Point Touring Pro earlier this season. That remains the only qualified ride on Blinky Bill. In total, 21 riders have had their chance, with the balance averaging a 4.03-second buck-off time. This ride comes at a tricky point in the draw for both teams, so Queensland may need it. Expect the bull to turn right and away from the Calliope cowboy’s hand, but Leather is riding hot and should start a solid favourite.
Keny Roger de Oliveira (NSW) on 011E Alpha Blokes Warden (MJ and Keliher Bucking Bulls)
This is one of the most anticipated matchups of the night and is likely to be a real test for the Brazilian bull rider. Oliveira continues to ride at a very high level, and his record in Australia is 14-from-18. But Alpha Blokes Warden is a different challenge. He is unridden in 33 trips, with an average buck-off time of 3.33 seconds. Only two riders have beaten that time in the past twelve months. Sam Woodall lasted 4.99 seconds at Origin III in Sydney, and Andrew Alvidrez went to 7.23 seconds at the Grand Finals in Townsville. Tonight, Warden will be out of the right delivery, which usually sees him turning back to the left. That will allow Oliveira to utilise all his power as he rides into his hand. The Warden has had just three trips in 2026 with two months between events, so he will be fresh and ready to show his best.
Kelsey Pavlou (QLD) on 713 War Cry (Ruhland Ranch Bucking Bulls/Hartnett)
Pavlou came away from Origin I without a qualified ride after a couple of quick buck-offs in the long rounds. He gets a chance to bounce back and progress his team's score in his second matchup of the night. War Cry has allowed one score in four trips this season. Clint Glass got the job done at Toowoomba for 84.40 points. This bull bucks with a nice tempo and doesn’t have too many tricks. He should turn back into Pavlou’s right riding hand, which looks to be a good fit. However, the Toora talent may face a late change in direction to secure the score.
Colby Edgar (NSW) on 319 Ranchline Wild Force (Ruhland Ranch Bucking Bulls)
The Tamworth rookie started a couple of good rides in Newcastle but couldn’t finish them in his Origin debut. He’ll gain from that experience. His second-round matchup is a strong chance for a qualified ride. Wild Force is among the most rider-friendly draws in the second round, allowing seven scores in fifteen attempts. Four of those qualified rides led to round wins, with scores as high as 86 points recorded, so there are plenty of points available if the rider can make it work. These two will battle to the right, which is away from Edgar’s hand, but I think this looks like a great fit.
Leith Malone (QLD) on 219 Hard Out (Dittmann Bucking Bulls)
Hard Out is yet to be ridden in his short PBR career, but there will be plenty of points available for the first cowboy who can reach the whistle. So far, he has averaged a bull score of 42.30 points, and his trips are becoming more consistent. He prefers to fake a turn to the right out of the chutes, then whip back to the left. Left-handed Alison Aguilar took this bull to 5.96 seconds last weekend in Newcastle and looked good for much of that time. That should encourage Malone, who went 0-for-2 in his debut against a tough set of bulls. The Mareeba young-gun converted on a similar chance at Lardner Park Meatstock to win the opening round in March, so if he can replicate that effort here, I can see him going very close to reaching the whistle.
