Queensland have defeated New South Wales seven rides to six in Game 2 of the 2026 PBR Origin series at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Saturday night to take an unassailable 2-nil series lead.
The Maroons trailed the Blues 6-5 and a margin of 87.35 points entering the Bonus Round, but clutch rides from young guns Boston Leather and Leith Malone put the home team ahead in the final moments.
Calliope’s Boston Leather delivered from the third position, teaming up with Night Howler (Dunne Bulls) for 85.90 points. The score narrowly missed putting the Maroons ahead, but it meant his team needed just one qualified ride to take the lead.
The next Maroon to ride was Mareeba rookie Leith Malone, who rose to the occasion and made light work of his rematch against Turbo (ST Bucking Bulls), scoring 84.25 points, putting his side ahead with two opposing riders left to ride.
But New South Wales couldn't respond, with all four bonus round riders in blue down early, leaving the final score at 593.10 points to 510.30.

Boston Leather fired up the home team and the crowd with an 83.50 point ride in the first out of the night against Midnight (MC Bucking Bulls). The bull fought to unseat the cowboy, but the 2024 Australian National Champion resisted, notching his third qualified ride for the series.
But the strength of the bull pen stage started to show as the bovine athletes went on to record eight buck-offs in a row, until Miriam Vale’s Ethan Coster posted 84.65 points in the Queensland final ride of the section. His score came aboard Red Eye (ST Bucking Bulls), who faked to the right before turning back into his hand.
The riders regained momentum in the second section of the opening round, finishing with a flurry of scores and successfully riding five of their ten bulls.
The first of those scores went to Blues veteran Clint Glass, who got the blues on the board with a dominant ride into his hand on Throw It Back (Dunne Bulls). The 86.15 point score was the highest of the opening round and netted him the Round 1 win.
The teams traded blows to round out the round with Maroons Leith Malone and Zane Hall and Blues Toby Collins and Keny Roger de Oliveira all making the whistle.
First, Malone countered the direction change of Riddle Me This (CF7 Bucking Bulls) for 84.45 points. Then Collins racked up 85 points in a rematch against Da Bear (Lazy G Bucking Bulls/Pukallus) with a precise ride away from his hand.
Hall made light work of Salvation (Ruhland Ranch Bucking Bulls) for 82.30 points, and Oliveria cashed in his re-ride opportunity aboard Ranga Time (Keliher Bucking Bulls) for 82.60 points. Both bulls turned back to the left and into the rider's hand.
By the end of Round 1, Queensland led 4-3 with 335.90 points to New South Wales' 253.75.
The bulls stormed out in the second round, triggering a flurry of buck-offs, until Ethan Coster halted the run and pushed Queensland's lead to two scores. He conquered the 2024 PBR Australia Bucking Bull of the Year, Mr T (Dittmann Bucking Bulls), with a sensational ride away from his hand worth 87.05 points.
Willow Tree cowboy Clint Glass countered for the Blues with an 83.90 point ride into his hand aboard Holy Poly (MC Bucking Bulls).
Keny Roger de Oliveira was the next New South Wales rider to nod, in his highly anticipated matchup with Alpha Blokes Warden (MJ/Keliher Bucking Bulls).
The Brazilian talent dominated, overpowering the matchup into his hand, halting the 2025 PBR Australia Bucking Bull of the Year’s 33-out unbeaten streak and racking up a massive 89.50 points to snatch the Round 2 win.
That ride put the Blues in front for the first time in Game 2, with the margin sitting at just 4.2 points with three cowboys left to ride for both teams.
The Blues struck again as Tamworth’s Colby Edgar clinched his first PBR Origin qualified ride with 83.15 points aboard Ranchline Wild Force (Ruhland Ranch Bucking Bulls), extending his team’s lead to 87.35 points.
The Queensland team missed a few late chances and recorded just the one score, while New South Wales posted three scores during the second round.
At the end of Round 2, New South Wales led with a score of 510.30 points to Queensland's 422.95 points, setting the stage for the all-important Bonus Round.
