Boston Leather has produced a perfect 2-for-2 performance to win the 2026 Monster Energy Nowra Invitational on Saturday night, climbing to ninth in the PBR Australia National Standings.
The Calliope cowboy was the only rider to finish the event with two qualified rides, compiling the highest two-round aggregate score of the season of 173.30 points to take home more than $9,000 in prizemoney.
Leather opened his account in the middle of Round 1 with a superb 84.80-point effort aboard Charvez (Lazy G Bucking Bulls), who turned back to the right and into his hand. The score secured him the opening round win and the top pick in the Monster Energy Championship Round draft.
The 2024 PBR Australian National Champion confidently selected the unridden Leather Jacket (TnR Bucking Bulls) for what was to be a fantastic contest for the final out of the event.
The bulls dominated the short go, bucking off nine straight riders to begin the round, and although the win was secured before he nodded his head, Leather was determined to finish the event as strong as he started it.
He made no mistakes, dominating the 8-second matchup with Leather Jacket to generate the second-highest individual ride score of the season – 88.50 points, with the rider score coming in at a massive 45.80 points – the highest we have seen on tour since 2023.
The 20-year-old has battled through multiple injuries on his way to returning to the winner’s circle. His last victory came at the Mackay Invitational in 2024, where he used a personal 1-2 finish to provide a massive boost to his National Championship campaign.

Splitting second place at the 2026 Nowra Invitational were Tumut talent Dylan Weir and Oberon bull rider Jack Rowlandson, who both finished with excellent scores of 84.60 points in Round 1.
Weir overcame some difficulties in the chute to cover Dingus (TnR Bucking Bulls) into his right riding hand, while Rowlandson made light work of Midnight Special (Diamond S Bucking Bulls) who made a favourable turn back to the left.
Moura’s Dawson Foden finished fourth on 82.70 points after he rode Asmodeus (Swain Cattle Company) in the opening round.
Toby Collins got the cowboys off to a great start, covering Maltmans Juggernaut (Diamond S Bucking Bulls) in the first trip of the night for 82.20 points. The Maldon veteran finished in fifth place, just ahead of Oberon’s Charlie Bailey, who was marked 82-points aboard Pearl Snap (TnR Bucking Bulls).
Reigning National Champion Kurt Shephard did his job in the opening round, handling everything that Bad Boy Brown (Lazy G Bucking Bulls) could throw at him for 81.00 points. However, he couldn’t get by Wetzel (TnR Bucking Bulls) in their highly anticipated Championship Round bout, leaving him stranded in seventh place.
Brazilian cowboy Keny Roger de Oliveira was the eighth and final bull rider to get his name on the leaderboard in Nowra. He rode Silver Bullet (CF7 Bucking Bulls) for 80.20 points in Round 1.
