Mount Isa cowboy Donovan Rutherfurd claimed his second win of the PBR Australia season, emerging victorious at the 2026 Beaudesert Invitational thanks to a 3-for-3 performance across the weekend at the showgrounds.
The 26-year-old dominated the two-night event, winning two of the three rounds on his way to a total aggregate score of 247.40 points.
Rutherfurd won the opening round with an 85.70-point ride aboard Silver Bullet (CF7 Bucking Bulls) into his hand. He then declined a re-ride option in Round 2 to keep 75.50 points on the board after he made light work of Chappstick (ST Bucking Bulls).
With his aggregate total of 161.20 points, enough to narrowly earn him the top pick in the Championship Round draft, Rutherfurd drafted the 2024 PBR Australia Bucking Bull of the Year, Mr T (Dittmann Bucking Bulls).
The pick initially raised some eyebrows, given the bull holds the longest active buck-off streak in PBR Australia competition, which sat at 31 outs and dated back to the 2023 Grand Finals, but with Rutherfurd riding in close-to-career-best form, there were plenty of fans siding with the cowboy. It was a rematch from the 2025 Cairns Invitational, where Mr T won the bout in 6.49 seconds.
Mr T turned back to the right and away from Rutherfurd’s riding hand. The left-handed bull rider had a great seat until the closing stages of the ride, and as the whistle sounded, he was sent flying through the air. All eyes turned to the big screen where the clock read 7.83 seconds.
It looked very close to the naked eye, and there was no hesitation from Rutherfurd in asking the replay judge to review the time. After a handful of replays, the ride was given the thumbs up as a qualified ride, and he was awarded a score of 86.20 points.
