Hall moves to No. 1 in National Standings with Success in Scone

Team Ariat cowboy Zane Hall records fourth PBR Australia win of his career with a flawless 2-for-2 performance at White Park Arena.

Team Ariat cowboy Zane Hall outlasted a thirty-seven-rider field at the 2026 Scone Invitational to record the fourth PBR Australia win of his career with a flawless 2-for-2, 167-point performance at White Park Arena on Saturday night.

The 24-year-old backed up his strong top-3 finish at the season-opening Tasman Cup event in New Zealand during December, to move to the top spot in the standings and the race to become the 2026 PBR Australian National Champion.

As expected, it was a tough night for the cowboys of the Monster Energy Tour, with the bulls dominating proceedings early in Round 1, and bucking off the first sixteen riders to nod.

Hall was the first competitor to post a qualified ride on a night where the cowboys rode just 17.77% of their bulls. His 82.50-point trip away from his hand aboard Maltmans Juggernaut (Diamond S Bucking Bulls) kicked off a much-needed run of four straight qualified rides for the riders.

Dungog talent Toby Leake was next to ride, equalling the 82.50-point mark set by Hall aboard Vanilla Ice (MC Bucking Bulls) with a textbook effort riding into his right hand.

Sandstone Point winner Donnie Rutherfurd capitalised on his good draw, covering Dr Pepper (MC Bucking Bulls) for 82.00 points. The bull faked to the right but turned back to the left and into the Mount Isa bull riders' left hand.

Newcastle’s Josh Alexander joined Rutherfurd with his own 82.00-point effort on Silent Night (MC Bucking Bulls), who also looked to the right before turning back left and into the rider’s hand.

Soon after, Tamworth young-gun Coby Edgar took the lead with 84.00 points aboard White Nite (K3F – Farley Bucking Bulls and Caban Partnership). Competing at just his third PBR event, and his first at the Monster Energy Tour level, Edgar looked right at home, handling the bulls' early moves to take the Round 1 win comfortably.

Jake Swan moved into second place in the round, combining with Buzzard (Throsby & Russell Bucking Bulls) for 83.50 points. Making his PBR Australia senior competition debut, after graduating from the Can-Am Junior Academy, the Mendooran talent survived an early fake to the right from the bull, before turning back to the left and into his hand.

In the final trip of the long round, Mareeba’s Kurt Shephard rode his way into a tie for third, matching Hall and Leake with 82.50 points. The reigning National Champion made it look easy, riding away from his hand as Honey Hole (Lazy G Bucking Bulls) spun to the right.

The bulls dominated the Monster Energy Championship Round, allowing just one score from the eight trips.

With the third pick in the draft, Hall selected MSG Locating Filthy Rich. The Lazy G Bucking Bull had previously been ridden seven times in PBR Australia competition, with three of those scores strong enough to take the round win.

The Athol bull rider took full advantage of his selection, handling the bull's initial turn back to the right and a direction change at the whistle with the judges awarding Hall the highest score of the night – 84.50 points.

Throsby & Russell Bucking Bulls made their first appearance on the Monster Energy Tour since 2023, and they took up right where they left off, collecting YETI Bucking Bull of the Night honours with Wetzel in the Championship Round. The TnR bucker posted an event high 43.50-point bull score in his 3-second matchup with Kurt Shephard with a strong trip to the right.

PBR Australia Touring Pro Division action resumes next weekend in Marrabel, South Australia, on 14 February 2026, with the Monster Energy Tour returning to Beaudesert, Queensland, for two nights of competition on 27-28 February 2026.
