The first two-day Monster Energy Tour event of the PBR Australia season is upon us, with the 2026 Beaudesert Invitational set to be held at the Showgrounds on 27-28 February.
The National Standings leaderboard is starting to take shape. With a long run of Touring Pro events leading us into PBR Origin season, this event will be crucial for those cowboys with aspirations to wear a New South Wales or Queensland jersey this season.
Friday night’s action will begin at 7:30 p.m. AEST and features the first long round of the Monster Energy Tour event.
On Saturday, the Can-Am Junior Academy will get things underway at 4:00 p.m. AEST, with all four divisions being contested. The concluding rounds of the Monster Energy Tour and the Challenger Series event will follow, kicking off at 7:00 p.m. AEST.
Event information and tickets are available from the PBR Australia website.
Zane Hall and Kurt Shephard split the win at the 2026 Marrabel Touring Pro event in South Australia a fortnight ago after they finished the two round event locked together on 166.50 points.
Hall made it back-to-back event wins after winning the Scone Invitational earlier this month. He opened his night with 85 points aboard Superstitious (Woodall Rodeo Co) to fill the runner-up position in Round 1. Then he teamed up with Mr Inbetween (Australian Western Sports) in the second round for 81.50 points.
Shephard rode Little M (Woodall Rodeo Co) in the opening round for 80 points and added a further 84.50 points aboard Cool Hand (Australian Western Sports) to win Round 2.
Both cowboys added over 200 points to their Australian National Standings totals, with Hall extending his lead at the top of the leaderboard. Shephard jumped up three spots and into 3rd place.
Donnie Rutherfurd finished the event in third place with 162.50 points to consolidate himself in the No. 2 spot in the end-of-year standings. Colby Edgar backed up his runner-up finish in Scone with a 160.00-point fourth-place finish. Kelsey Pavlou was the best with one score, winning Round 1 with a sensational 89-point trip aboard Man Glitter (Morgy’s Cattle Company).

In 2024, Clint Glass was the lone rider to finish the event 2-for-3 to take the win with an aggregate score of 165 points. The Willow Tree cowboy made light work of White Weapon (Ruhland Ranch Bucking Bulls) for 82 points in Round 1, and he then put together an event high score of 86 points to win the Championship Round aboard Wild Force (Ruhland Ranch Bucking Bulls). Lane Mellers and Toby Hale filled the podium with scores of 84.50 and 83.50 points.
Brazilian bull riders dominated this event in 2025, with Matheus Lima Rodrigues holding off Luan Crystian Camara to claim his maiden PBR Australia buckle on debut with 165 points. After bucking off in Round 1, Rodrigues made amends, covering Clinton (MC Bucking Bulls) for 79.50 points in the second long round. He then posted an event high 85.5-point score aboard Jackie Red (Dunne Bulls) in the Championship Round. Camara finished with 163.50 points, and Jack Keats was close behind in third on 161.50 points.

Boston Leather on 400 Chappstick (ST Bucking Bulls)
It has been a rough twelve months for the 2024 PBR Australian National Champion, with injuries affecting his 2025 season. So far in 2026, Leather has bucked off all three of his bulls, but this looks like a solid opportunity for him to get a score on the board and put himself into contention for the round win. Chappstick was ridden by Kelsey Pavlou for 85 points to finish runner-up in the second round at the Sandstone Point Touring Pro on New Year’s Eve. This bull turned back sharply to the right on that occasion. A repeat of that will put him into the Calliope cowboy’s riding hand, and we should see a score in the mid-80 point range.
Kurt Shephard on 17 Lil Thing (Ruhland Ranch Bucking Bulls/McNamara Partnership)
This bull bucked off twelve straight riders to begin his career, but Luan Crystian Camara put an end to that streak at Sydney Meatstock last season, where he was marked 82.50 points. This bull has been hauled by a few different contractors throughout his career and has been alternated between deliveries. They seem to have settled on him coming from the right chutes, which can indicate that the bull prefers to spin in an anticlockwise direction. If that is the case, he should suit the left-handed Mareeba bull rider. If he fakes left and turns back to the right, I am still happy to side with Shephard, who is leading the pack with a riding percentage of 66.67% this season.
Clint Glass on 171 Throw It Back (Dunne Bulls)
The Willow Tree veteran has been struggling to regain the consistency that saw him finish in fourth place in the gold buckle race last season, but I think he can go close to getting the train back on the tracks here against Throw It Back. This bull has been unridden in four trips on tour, but three of those have been left-handed riders. This bull can leave the chute strong with a high kick and carries that momentum into a spin to the right. We haven’t seen too much of him past the 2.5-second mark with his previous opponents hitting the dirt early. Glass should give us a good look at him here, riding into his hand.
Thomas Hudson on 050 Vanilla Ice (MC Bucking Bulls)
Vanilla Ice is one of the most rider-friendly draws in this bull pen, allowing six riders to post a score from just eight attempts. Scores for those successful cowboys average out at 82.63 points, so while we aren’t expecting them to combine for the round win, it will put Hudson in contention for a strong finish on Saturday night. The Dungog talent rode his opening round bull at the Marrabel Touring Pro and was about half-a-second away from adding a second score in Round 2 - so, he appears to be finding some form. The bull should start off to the right and away from his hand, but will reverse the direction mid-ride and allow Hudson to finish the eight seconds strongly.
