An interesting pen of bulls awaits the cowboys from New South Wales and Queensland for tonight's 2025 PBR Origin Game 3 decider at the ICC Sydney Theatre.
Riders have seen most of these bulls a few times over the last three months of competition, with the majority of them bucking at the Armidale Invitational in April, Origin I in Newcastle in May and again a week later at the Meatstock Touring Pro in Sydney.
The riding percentages at the first two Origin games in Newcastle and Brisbane both came in at 25%. With the familiarity from those recent tour stops in Blues territory fresh in the minds of both teams, we can expect to land somewhere just above that figure.

Here are some of the highlight long-round matchups:
Sam Woodall (NSW) on 910 On Bail (Swain Cattle Company)
This is an excellent opportunity for Woodall to get the Blues off to the perfect start. He has matched up with On Bail three times in PBR competition, and while the bull holds a 2-to-1 record over him, the Heywood talent will go into this trip with plenty of confidence. His score came at Caboolture in 2023 when he won the opening round with 88.50 points. On Bail still produces a similar trip, but his average bull score in the past 12 months is over half a point lower than it was back during the 2023 season. They will do battle around to the right, and into Woodall’s hand.
Beau Willis (QLD) on 012E Just Right (Keliher Bucking Bulls)
Willis also has a nice shot at getting the Maroons on the board in the opening exchange. The Bowen veteran hasn't been in the best of form, but Just Right is a bull that could set him back on the right path. He has been ridden five times from nine trips, but he was previously bucked from the right chutes and turned back to the left. At Burnett Heads he came from the left delivery, and he made a right-hand turn with Kurt Shephard making light work of him for 82 points. He is from the left again tonight, so if he turns right again, the right-handed Willis should go close to riding time.
Thomas Triplett (QLD) on 900 Cracking Tins (MC Bucking Bulls)
Cracking Tins has given up three scores from eight trips this season for an average score of almost 82 points. He can mix up his trips, but he mostly takes a jump or two into the arena and then picks a direction. I think he performs best when he turns back to the right. Triplett hasn't had the best run of luck since his event win at Newcastle in Origin I, but he gets a good chance to bounce back here in the opening round. I am on the Bungundarra young gun's side no matter the direction the bull chooses, but his odds will drastically shorten if the bull elects to turn back to the right and into his hand.
Tyson Smith (NSW) on 7721 Never Land (Morgys Cattle Company)
The Walcha talent has put together some handy rides during the last two months of competition. His scores at Sydney Meatstock and Brisbane Origin both came on bulls that turned back to the right and into his hand after faking left. He gets another bull that should produce a similar trip here. Never Land was ridden in his first PBR trip by Kurt Shephard for a round winning 86 points at Bendigo, but has since gone on to buck off three straight left-handed riders. He should be a much better fit for the righties, such as Smith.
Kurt Shephard (QLD) on 8519 Man Glitter (Morgys Cattle Company)
Man Glitter was one of the stars of the bull pen in 2024, racking up six High Marked Bull Of The Event awards, and I am excited to see him buck tonight. He has been ridden four times for an average score of over 87 points, and all the scores belong to right-handed riders, which makes this an intriguing matchup for the left-handed Shephard. We have seen some of the higher-ranked lefties take this bull a long way in the past. The Mareeba bull rider is in excellent form, riding six of his last eight bulls, so I am giving him a good shot at riding time here. The bull will turn back to the right with plenty of speed.
Alison Aguiar (NSW) on 7620 Misfit (Morgys Cattle Company)
Aguiar has been a tough cowboy to bring down in the last couple of months. He has ridden 50% of his bulls since Origin I, and his buck-offs have all come late in the 8 seconds. The Brazilian has drawn a tricky bull here to open his night. Misfit is another one of those bulls that mixes up his trips and tries to get the rider out of position with a lot of fakes in either direction. He has been ridden twice in his career. The most recent qualified ride went to right-handed Rylee Ward at Sydney Meatstock for 84 points. If Aguiar can stay in the centre of his back until he settles into a spin, he should be able to last until the whistle, no matter the direction.
Bryn Francis (QLD) on 5720 Exit Light (Morgys Cattle Company)
The Moura bull rider had a good weekend in Sydney at the Meatstock Touring Pro, riding 2-from-3. He then left Origin II in Brisbane without a score, but he has been running into a lot of bulls that have turned back away from his left riding hand. Exit Light is a bull that is regularly around to the left, so it looks like an excellent opportunity for Francis to put up some numbers. He has been ridden in almost half of his fourteen trips for an average score of around 83 points, and four of the six qualified rides belong to left-handed riders.
Jack Keats (QLD) on 172 Roam Aviation Without Warning (Dunne Bulls)
Keats hasn’t had much luck this Origin series. He ran into a string of bulls that turned back away from his hand at Newcastle and then suffered some interference when his bull slammed him into the out gate in the opening round at Brisbane. He managed to emerge with an 82.75-point score from Origin I, and he will be looking to add a similar score here in the opening round aboard Without Warning. This bull has been ridden once in his seven-trip career. He should turn back into the Cloncurry cowboy’s hand, but he needs to watch out for the bull's effort buck, which usually comes around the 3-second mark of the ride.
Jack Rowlandson (NSW) on 882 Uppercut (Maynes Bucking Bulls)
Rowlandson is quietly going about his business, and I don't think it will be long until he really hits full stride. The Oberon talent has ridden three of his seven bulls at the last three events he has entered. All those bulls have either started or turned back away from his hand, so he looks in good form. He has drawn a good one here. Uppercut has been covered just once from nine trips, but the average buck off time is approaching the 4.5-second mark. He begins with a fake to the right, before turning back to the left. That's a pattern that should suit the left-handed bull rider, and we should see a score around 85 points.
Clint Glass (NSW) on N02 Jungle Full Of Hillbillys (Diamond S Bucking Bulls)
Glass and Jungle Full Of Hillbillys met up late last season at Tamworth where the bull had to work for over 7-seconds to get the Willow Tree veteran off his back. Glass is another rider who went 2-from-3 at the Meatstock in Sydney but was then shut out at the Brisbane Origin. This bull has been ridden in his last three trips for an average score of 83.75 points. He can turn back in either direction and can throw a trick or two at the rider, so Glass will need to stay up off his pockets and ready to react.
Zane Hall (QLD) on N4H All The Rage (Diamond S Bucking Bulls)
This looks like a nice draw for the Athol talent. All The Rage has been out seven times in PBR competition and has been ridden twice. Both scores have gone the way of left-handed bull riders and have been marked in the mid-to-high 80-point range. The left-handed Hall has been flying since the final round of the Sydney Meatstock Touring Pro, riding four of his last seven bulls. Three of those scores were good enough to pick up the corresponding round win, including the Bonus Round in Origin II at Brisbane. We should see these two battle it out to the left.
Luan Crystian Camara (NSW) on 058 Revolver (Dunne Bulls)
The Brazilian has been riding just about everything that they have run under him over the past few months on tour, and he is 9-for-12 since the start of May. He has drawn a couple of tough Dunne bulls tonight, but I wanted to talk about his matchup with Revolver. This bull has been one of the most consistent bulls in the pen for the past twelve months, averaging a bull score of 42.62 points and allowing just one score. That went to Macaulie Leather in the last round of the Grand Finals last year for 88 points. This bull can turn back in either direction, but he prefers to go left, and that will put him away from Camara's hand. This is a real ‘testing material’ matchup for both bull and rider.
Rylee Ward (QLD) on 918 Booga Wooga (Lazy G Bucking Bulls)
The Kiwi champion will be the final rider to nod his head in the long rounds, and it will likely be a crucial out for the Maroons and affect the shape of the Bonus Round. He had a rough couple of tour stops before bouncing back to score his maiden PBR win at the Bull Pit Touring Pro in Bloomsbury last weekend. Both of those scores came aboard bulls that turned back into his hand, and he has drawn another bull that turns back to the right here. Booga Wooga hasn't been ridden since he combined with Brady Fielder for 82.50 points at the Grand Finals in Townsville last season. He always turns back in a clockwise direction, and although his efforts can vary, I think Ward can snap the streak.
