WELCOME TO THE PBR

There’s never been a better time to be a bull rider.

WHY PBR?

Bull riders are at the forefront of the PBR, and the main priority of the organization is to improve the sport and enhance the available opportunities.

The Monster Energy Tour is the flagship event series of Professional Bull Riding Australia, featuring over 16 elite events annually across Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria. Each Monster Energy Tour stop offers a minimum of $20,000 prize-money.

The PBR Australia Grand Finals is the climax of the Monster Energy Tour season, where the nation’s top bull riders compete for the prestigious title of PBR Australia Champion. The PBR Australian Finals offers $150,000 in prize money, with the PBR Australian Champion receiving a $100,000 bonus.

The PBR Australia Touring Pro Division, brings top-tier bull riding to regional communities across the country with a key focus on supporting the development of emerging talent.

The PBR Origin Series has quickly become one of the most anticipated highlights of the PBRA tour since its debut in 2019. The three-event Queensland vs New South Wales team series pays in excess of $50,000 per event. The rider with the highest aggregate score over the three-event series is named the Cowboy of Origin, receiving a $30,000 bonus.

More Information

There are many advantages to becoming a PBR bull rider. PBR sanctions around 250 bull riding events globally throughout the year, with the top competitors, inside the most iconic venues in the world.

The access to the coaching, training, teammates, hometown crowds, and all the resources provided by the teams to their athletes is something never seen before in Western sports. It is an industry-changing initiative that has changed the game and has no doubt improved the sport in all aspects from fan engagement to earning potential to bull rider performance.

At the end of the day, the opportunities are aplenty as a bull rider in the PBR. We will do everything we can to help you in your career and we work tirelessly to provide you with every opportunity to be successful. You will have the opportunity to earn as much money as you want and qualify for the biggest events in the sport. The rest is up to you!

A bull rider must be at least 18 years of age and an Open bull rider in a recognized Rodeo Association to purchase a PBRA membership. After you purchase the PBR membership you will receive a riding permit.  This riding permit will allow you enter the Touring Pro and Sanctioned events. Once you win $ 2500.00 (AUD) in prize money you will be upgraded from permit status to cardholder status, however, you have to continue to win $ 2500.00 (AUD) each year to maintain your card holder status. Once you receive your cardholder status you can work your way towards the Cup Series, which can earn you a position on the Unleash The Beast Tour.

For PBR Membership enquiries please contact the PBRA office at pbra@pbr.com or call (07) 4724 0218

Additionally, attending a reputable bull riding school may give you the edge needed to take advantage of opportunities offered by the Professional Bull Riders to win money riding against the toughest contenders – both man and beast – in the world. Please contact PBRA office for details regarding upcoming bull riding schools.

If you are in need of protective equipment there are several companies that offer safety equipment and bull riding gear. Gold Buckle Enterprises, the company owned and operated by 2008 PBR World Champion Troy Dunn, stocks quality bull riding equipment and may be contacted on 0427 575 647.

The beautiful thing about the bull riding industry is that everyone is approachable and willing to help! The PBR is always welcoming to new bull riders and searching for more talent to add to our pool of athletes. That being said, this is professional-level bull riding, so it is not the place for bull riders at the beginner level to start their bull riding careers due to the calibre of bulls competing in our events. If you are new to the PBR with some bull riding experience, you are welcome to enter, so please call the PBR Australia office at (07) 4724 0218 or email pbra@pbr.com and we can get the process started.

If you are new to the sport altogether, attending a reputable bull riding school may give you the edge needed to take advantage of opportunities offered by the PBR. We highly recommend getting in touch with our the PBR Australia team at pbra@pbr.com, who can assist you in forming a roadmap to getting started. You should also tap into your network and see if you know any or have friends who may know some current or former riders or stock contractors. Most would be happy to help you get started. Most stock contractors are former riders themselves and know the sport inside and out. They are all very approachable and recognise the need for developing new bull riders to help the sport continue to grow, so most would be happy to assist you and get you on the right path. If you're between the ages of 8 and 18, ask our team for more information about how you can get started in the PBR Can-Am Junior Academy.

Whatever route you take, don’t be afraid to start from the ground up and be around people who know the sport and are willing to go over everything from equipment to chute procedures to putting you on livestock you can learn on.
