BISMARCK, N.D. – When the dust settled in Bismarck, North Dakota, for the inaugural preseason event for the groundbreaking PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Team Series – a new league of eight bull riding teams from across the country competing for a national championship – the Missouri Thunder (1-1) finished third. After beating the Arizona Ridge Riders 261-83.75 in their opening game, the Thunder were not able to continue the momentum on the second day of competition, defeated by the Carolina Cowboys 350.75-261.5. Making roster changes for the second day of competition, the Missouri Thunder activated free agent Callum Miller (Warwick, Queensland). After Miller covered his bull in the game against the Cowboys, the Australian sensation was tapped to represent the Missouri Thunder in the bonus round. Matched with Two Socks (Dakota Rodeo/Mark Baker/Clay Struve/Chad Berger), Miller matched the animal athlete jump-for-jump en route to an 89.25-point score, the second-best of the Bonus Round.

When the PBR Team Series preseason continues June 24-25 in Tryon, North Carolina, the Missouri Thunder will go head-to-head against the Austin Gamblers and Kansas City Outlaws.

GAME RECAP – CAROLINA COWBOYS VS. MISSOURI THUNDER:

Missouri Thunder Dealt First Team Loss by the Carolina Cowboys on Second Day of Competition for the First PBR Team Series Preseason Event in Bismarck, North Dakota

Carolina Cowboys: 350.75 points
Missouri Thunder: 261.5 points

In a showdown between two of the winning teams from the opening day of competition for the Dakota Community Bank & Trust PBR Bull Riding Team Series preseason event, the Missouri Thunder (1-1) were unable to continue their momentum, defeated by the Carolina Cowboys (2-0) 350.75-261.5. Continuing his strong momentum, 2022 PBR World Champion Daylon Swearingen (Piffard, New York) started the game on a high note, dominating Bubba G (Dakota Rodeo/Brian & Ashley Pintar/Clay Struve/Chad Berger) for 89.75 points. Junior Patrick Souza (Sonora, Brazil) then recorded a score of 87.25 points on Dagger (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger) to briefly give the Cowboys a 177-point lead. The Thunder’s second rider, Clayton Sellars (Fruitland Park, Florida), however, was quick to counter, riding Gambini (Julie Rosen/Clay Struve/Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger) for 87 points. Not only did Sellars put the Thunder on the board, but he lessened the Cowboys lead to 90 points. While both teams’ next outs ended short of the 8, Wingson Henrique da Silva (Navirai, Brazil) responded to Thunder rider Jesse Petris (Dublin, Texas) buckoff with an 86.5-point ride atop WSM’S Unstoppable (WSM Auctioneers/Clay Struve/Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger). Silva’s ride proved to be a momentum starter for both teams, with the following three outs of the evening all producing scores. While Andrew Alvidrez (Seminole, Texas) and Callum Miller (Warwick, Queensland, Australia) posted a combined 174.5 points for the Missouri Thunder, Mason Taylors (Maypearl, Texas) 87.25-point ride on Surprise Package (Clay Struve/Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger) was enough to clinch the win for the Carolina Cowboys.
